Here's my little list of 6 such things:
I had to put this as number one as it seems to be the thing that parents miss the most! I was spoilt in the early months with Nerys because she slept through from about 10pm till 7am. But, alas, it wasn't to last!
She hit the 4 month growth spurt/sleep regression and it all went out the window. So, as far as I'm concerned, the ultimate luxury would be more than 3 hours uninterrupted sleep at night!
2) Being able to finish a hot drink (while it's still actually hot!)
Oh the simple joy of being able to sit down and drink a whole cup of hot coffee!
3) Eating a meal in peace.
Without someone calling your name. Or peeing on the floor. Or needing to be fed. right. now!
4) Watching something other than Doc Mcstuffins.
Now I actually don't mind Doc Mcstuffins, I like the idea of it teaching Rhys to be gentle and to help others. But I've seen all the episodes so many times now it's not even funny. The few occasions when he's at school and Nerys is sleeping and I can put something else on the TV are just bliss!
5) A shower.
In the morning. In peace.
A day without having to reach for the dry shampoo is a good day!
6) A trip to the supermarket on your own.
I tend to do most of our food shopping online now and have it delivered. It just makes sense to me to do it that way. But every so often I'll head out to Tesco on a Sunday morning, all by myself. And it's wonderful!
I can wander. I can browse. I can sneak treats into the trolley for myself.
Although I do catch myself rocking the trolley back and forth as it if were the buggy!
Parents, do you agree with my list? Leave me a comment and let me know what you would add to it!
