A bit of a Rhys-heavy week this week for my project 365. But then this was the week that he turned 2 so I think I can be forgiven! This was also a week of celebrating St George's day, baking and munching on chocolate cake, exciting new toys and big smiles! Visit my Facebook page to see all my 365 photos so far!

Last November I met up with Kim and Andy (and their dog Kira) in Singleton Park, Swansea for Kim’s maternity portrait session. We managed to catch a break in the rain and go for a walk round the park. Starting a session with an activity, even something as simple as going for a stroll, can be a great way to relax and get used to having your photo taken. Kim and Andy had a chance to have a chat, Kira could have a run around and I got some lovely shots of the natural interactions between them. Win-win-win! We managed to sneak in a few posed shots before Kira dog wanted to play again. She didn't have a clue why Kim and Andy kept making her wait but she was so patient! Then we had time for a bit more of a walk before the heavens opened and we retreated to the Uplands Diner for a cooked breakfast. Not a bad way to spend a few hours! Photos of their lovely baby boy coming soon!
In the meantime, Singleton park will be coming to life soon (hopefully!) and is a lovely location for portrait sessions in Swansea. If you'd like to discuss booking with me please get in touch here or send me a message via my Facebook page! If you’ve got little ones between 18 months and 5 years and are around on Friday then you can take them to the National Waterfront Museum where Holibods are holding a Waterfront Nippers session. The theme this time is ‘In the garden’ and is bound to be a lot of creative fun!
If you can’t make the Friday session and have school age children then you can book a place to see what Artibods (part of Holibods) have got to offer at a workshop on Saturday. Sessions are at 10.30 and 1.30 in Bethel Chapel on Carnglas Road, Sketty. Sessions are £5 per child (adults have to stay with the children but can join in for free!) and the theme this time is ‘Imagination, Dreams and strange lands’ which is an introduction to surrealism! You can find more information and contact them via the website or their Facebook page. If you're not a creative type then you can check out the Gorseinon Food Festival instead! It's on Saturday at Canolfan Gorseinon Centre and costs £3 (under 12s get in for free). There'll be 120 stalls selling all sorts of local tasty treats and crafts as well as cookery demonstrations, entertainment and music. Oh and the local park and ride is free too, bargain! My little boy turns 2 today, which is just unbelievable. Where has the time gone?! These past 2 years have been wonderful, exciting, exhausting and just amazing. So what is Rhys like now he’s two? He is really affectionate and loves giving cuddles and sitting on laps. He'll try and sit on his baby cousin's lap given half a chance! He is a big fan of Numberjacks and Peppa Pig and really loves Postman Pat which makes me very happy because that was one of my favourites as a kid. Although I've only just found out that Pat's surname is Clifton; who knew?! He is stubborn. My word he is stubborn. Can't think where he gets that from! This is him wanting to go to the swings and not the ducks. He didn't scream and shout to get his own way. Just sat down in a silent protest. 'Strong-willed' is the expression Mamie used, which is a little bit nicer than stubborn! He is a lift-out puzzle ninja. Seriously, he can do them quicker than I can! He loves counting to 10 and is having great fun learning his letters. He likes to line things up and can be very precise about it! He is a really physical, active boy. Oh, he is such a boy! He loves to run and jump and climb. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn't get to Brynmill Park as much as I do to let him burn off energy! He is fun, happy, chatty, tiring, bright, strong, crazy and loving. And I’m so excited to see what the next year with him will bring!
