March, April and May's pictures to follow soon (hopefully!).
Finally getting round to editing and blogging some photos from the 10 on 10 project for 2014! I'm enjoying this project so far, it's a lot easier than the project 365 but still forces me to stop and capture where our lives are which I love! So here are the images from February, back when I was in the final stages of my pregnancy! The 10th of that month brought the first past-7am wake up call for a while which was definitely cause for celebration - waking up in daylight for the first time in ages was so exciting! February was also about Peppa Pig puzzles (and Rhys being able to tell you which colour is on the back of each puzzle which makes it much easier to find the one he wants to do!), more cleaning/nesting, healthy lunches and chocolatey treats, soothing an itchy, growing bump and late night doses of Gaviscon!

Nerys slept for over 3 hours today. I'm sure this is normal for some 2 month old babies, but it's pretty epic for her as she is normally more of a cat-napper!
So Rhys and I took advantage of the situation and had some lovely, quality time together baking. I've recently discovered that he really enjoys baking, especially helping me scoop out flour and sugar into the scales to weigh them. And I'm loving eating the results! We had a couple of really quite ripe bananas that needed to be rescued before they ended up in the food waste, so I jumped on Google for an easy banana bread recipe and found one by Mary Berry on this blog - The Queen of everything. It looked nice and simple and had no crazy extra ingredients that would involve a trip to the supermarket. I tweaked it a bit to include some cocoa powder and chocolate chips to satisfy my sweet tooth but other than that I followed it to the letter and I have to say, it's pretty tasty! So here is the recipe for my take on a chocolate banana bread: Ingredients 100g Softened Butter 175g Caster Sugar 2 Large Eggs 2 Ripe Bananas (mashed) 225g Self Raising Flour About 2 tablespoons cocoa powder Handful of chocolate chips 1 teaspoon Baking Powder 2 tablespoons Milk A few teaspoons of brown sugar Method 1. Preheat the oven to 180C / Fan 160C / Gas 4. 2. Line a 2lb loaf tin with baking parchment or greaseproof paper. 3. Measure all the ingredients into a mixing bowl in the order they're listed above and mix together. 4. Spoon the mixture into the tin and level the surface 5. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the top to give it a nice crunchy finish! 6. Bake in the pre-heated oven for about 1 hour, until well risen and golden brown. A skewer or knife inserted in the centre should come out clean when the loaf is ready. 7. Leave to cool in the tin for a few minutes, then turn it out and leave it to cool on a wire rack (or just a wooden chopping board if you're like me and don't have a wire rack!) So there you have it, nice and easy and pretty darn tasty! If you give it a go for yourself leave me a comment below and let me know what you think! Or if you think you have an even better recipe then please share it with me! ...the reason things have been quiet around here! Our daughter was born at the end of February and I've spent the time since then in a bit of a baby bubble, enjoying getting to know the newest member of our family.
Now she's a few months old and I'm adjusting to juggling a baby and a busy 3 year old I'm starting to feel ready to throw myself back into the outside world again! But if anyone has any tips or advice to make the juggling a little bit easier then please let me know in the comments below - I could use all the help I can get! |
