There's a sort of symmetry to this Beloved family session that I just love. When Kim was pregnant with her son we met in Singleton Park in Swansea for a maternity portrait session; and that was where we went again for this session with Teddy as a gorgeous 2 year old bundle of energy. We took a really laid-back approach to the session, which makes life a lot easier for everyone when there's a busy 2 year old involved! We had a little stroll around and then stopped for a sit down and some bubble fun - always a winner! I know I've said it before but I absolutely love Singleton Park for portrait sessions. There are so many possible locations and backgrounds for some great variety and there are lots of different things to keep little ones interested. Like the big fallen tree that makes a great natural climbing frame! And who doesn't like finding dandelions and making wishes?! We finished up our session with a fun game of 'guess who?' which even kept the family dog entertained. So much fun! I love seeing the expressions that this game produces, especially with little ones like Teddy who really enjoyed himself running round the tree to surprise his Daddy. If these are the kind of photos you'd like of your family - relaxed, authentic and full of smiles - then I'd love to hear from you to arrange a session. You can contact me here or stop by my Facebook page and send me a message.

Have you been to Clyne Gardens recently? If you're in Swansea you should head there for a walk as soon as you get the chance, it's just alive at the moment! I met up with the Mattu family there a few weeks ago and we spent a lovely couple of hours wandering round, venturing down windy paths and discovering all the little bridges that are dotted around. The plan for their photo session was to get some natural photos of them just being themselves, and to then have some fun with some Beloved games and invites. I find that this approach to a Beloved session works wonderfully; everyone has a chance to relax and get used to the camera, and then we get some lovely moments with the Beloved invites! And when I say everyone has a chance to relax, I'm including myself this time because I was submitting images from this session for my assessment at the end of my Beloved training! So, onto the photos! There are quite a few from this session, I just love them so much I wanted to share them all! In case I had you in suspense while looking through all those, yes, I did successfully complete the course with these photos! So thank you very much to the Mattu family for being such fantastic muses!
If you'd like to discuss booking a session then I'd love to hear from you! You can get in touch with me here. If you're not quite sure if you'd like a session at the moment, but want to be kept in the loop about special offers, last minute session availability and general news from around here then please do sign up for my newsletter! This session is long overdue for a feature on here - that bump is now a cheeky, lively, gorgeous 16 month old boy! But, in my defence, I was also pretty heavily pregnant when I took these photos and then life with 2 small children sort of took over and blogging this session just got pushed to the bottom of the old to-do list! So, now that things are a bit calmer (ha, are things ever calm with kids around?) I'm finally showing off this lovely at home maternity/family portrait session. I've known Debs for about 4 years now. We met at a baby group here in Swansea and have shared a lot of the ups and downs of parenthood together. We even went through our second pregnancies together, with our babies being born a month apart. So I was really happy when we first starting talking about getting together to take some maternity and family portraits for her. Debs and her husband decided to have the photos taken at their home in Swansea, because they wanted them to be natural, relaxed images and they wanted their daughter to be comfortable being involved too. This lifestyle approach to sessions is perfect if you don't really want to be posed and instead want to just relax and be yourself. If you want your photos to really represent you. I love including people's homes in their photos as it adds that bit more personality to them, as opposed to photos taken in a studio against a plain background. We spent an hour or two playing in various spots throughout their home, getting a nice bit of variation in their photos and keeping their daughter from getting too restless! They even brought out their drum at the end of the shoot, for an impromptu music session. Such fun! If you'd like to have a chat about a lifestyle or Beloved photo session of your own then I'd love to hear from you - you can get in touch with me here.

I met with Cheryll, Ross and their son at Swansea Bay for a maternity portrait session last summer (I'm really not proud of the fact that I'm only just sharing these photos now!). That gorgeous bump you can see in the photos is now an even more gorgeous baby girl - congratulations Cheryll and Ross! This was possibly one of the most laid back portrait sessions I've ever done, I loved it! I went armed with some Beloved invites ready to suggest games to play, but I didn't really need them, this family just went ahead and played their own games which I thought was wonderful. They chatted and played and relaxed on the beach, enjoying the last warmth of the sun before it set. This to me is a great example of the type of experience you can expect if you book a family portrait session with me. No stress and lots of fun and smiles! If you want to go ahead and do your own thing, that's great, I love capturing lifestyle images of families just being themselves. But if you want more direction then that's fab too, I'll come ready with Beloved games and prompts to get you playing and chatting in no time!
